Identify the Problem

The first step in problem solving is identifying the problem.  That seems soooo simple right?  It’s not. I don’t know how many times someone has texted me or called me and said Hey “this” is broken what do I do?  Regardless of whatever “this” is very specifically identify “what” is broken.  As far as equipment goes its usually pretty easy to diagnose.  Equipment needs a power source.  So just follow the flow of energy.  You hit the power switch and nothing happened?  Are other things on?  Yes, then you have power.  Check the breaker, its on.  Check the outlet with a voltmeter, it’s got power.  Is it plugged in? NO. Problem identified. Obviously it can get way more in depth than that but the first step is always to identify the problem.  The power switch could be bad, there could be a bad capacitor, the breaker could be blown, the outlet could be fried, a wire could be broken etc.  Just identify the problem don’t just say hey this shit doesn’t work.
